The Gamer's Guide - Issue 5

2759829-9834423517-CS_SW

What’s up everybody, welcome along to issue 5 of DID Electrical's Gamer’s Guide. This is your one stop guide to the latest news in gaming.

McGregor & Harrington strut their stuff for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare:

The latest story trailer landed showcasing some more of Call of Duty’s latest campaign and you see more of Kit Harrington’s character and a snippet of McGregor. Kit Harrington is playing Admiral Salen Kotch of the Settlement Defense Force, the main protagonist force you go up against in the game, and Conor McGregor plays his lackey, Captain Bradley Fillion. Ironically, the small snippet you do see of “The Notorious One” is of him punching your character in the face. Infinite Warfare is due out Nov 4th on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Gears of War Goes Gold

Microsoft and The Coalition have confirmed that Gears of War 4 has gone gold and is on track for its Oct 11th release date. Coming on both Xbox One and PC as part of Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere programme, this allows you to purchase a digital copy, for example on Xbox One and you will be able to download for free on PC and vice versa. Gears of War 4 continues on 25 years after Gears of War 3 and focuses on Max Fenix’s son, J.D. and a new threat that has emerged after the events of 3. This edition is the first to not be developed by Epic Games since Microsoft purchased the series and allows for cross platform play with multiplayer, campaign and Horde 3.0 mode.

Destiny Rise of Iron

The 4th expansion for Destiny, Rise of Iron has launched and the early take up of the pack was so huge that the servers crashed and gamers were unable to log in for a few hours. As of yesterday, these issues seem to have disappeared for the vast majority. Early thoughts is that the gameplay is better, the graphics have improved and the content is bigger and better allowing for more time to enjoy before you get to the inevitable level cap and grinding. This pack is only available on PS4 (with exclusive content), Xbox One and PC.

The Round Up:

Forza Horizon 3 launched and so far the reviews have been positive. Getting a brief hands on it, I can say the graphics and locations are stunning, the selection of cars is great and the racing is as good as you would expect from a Forza game. Definitely worth picking up if you love your racers.

Microsoft have confirmed that any in-house game made for the Scorpio will be natively running in 4K, rather than taking Sony’s approach of upscaling to 4K. As for third party games, this will be down to each individual studio, so don’t expect the next Call of Duty or FIFA to be natively 4K unless they put in the resources.

EA has launched the Death Star DLC pack for season pass holders, with it launching for general purchase in two weeks. There is also a significant patch update for all owners of the game, with bug fixes for audio settings as well as the spectator camera. The health bar has also been updated as well as changes to weapons, Star Cards and traits.

Capcom will be dropping an update for Street Fighter 5 today for PS4 and PC. The new character recently announced, Urien, will be part of the update, season pass owners will get him for free or he can be purchased via the PlayStation Store or on Steam. It was also confirmed that the “Vs CPU” mode will be part of the update, so you may play on your own against the computer

That’s it for this week. Don’t forget to go online to did.ie and pre-order the Xbox One S FIFA 17 bundle, launching @ €299.99. Our congratulations to Cathy Tallon as well for winning our competition for the Xbox One FIFA 16 / Forza bundle. I’m off to finally get in and complete Uncharted 4 if possible and get more hands on with FIFA 17, will have thoughts and a review before release. Until next time…..
